About Anjum Mehmood Siddiqui

Consultant Clinical Psychologist | Psychotherapist | Personality Analyst | Emotional & Relationship Psychology

I am Anjum Mehmood Siddiqui, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Personality Analyst, and practitioner of emotional and relationship psychology.

My work is centered around one powerful idea:

“When we understand what is happening inside us, we can begin to change what is happening around us.”

I work with individuals who may feel emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, disconnected, confused about their relationships, affected by past experiences, or caught in patterns they cannot seem to break.

My therapeutic approach goes beyond simply managing symptoms. I aim to understand the whole person—their emotions, thoughts, behaviors, personality, relationships, life experiences, and deeper psychological patterns.

This is why my work incorporates approaches such as CBT, DBT-informed skills, emotional regulation, personality-focused psychotherapy, relationship therapy, inner-child-focused work, shadow work, and trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, with EMDR incorporated where clinically appropriate and within my professional training and scope.

Why I Chose Psychology

I chose psychology because I have always been fascinated by the emotional complexity of human beings.

I wanted to understand why people think, feel, behave, and respond differently—and why intelligent, capable people can sometimes feel completely lost inside their own emotions.

I became particularly interested in the questions that exist beneath visible behavior:

  • Why do we repeatedly choose the same type of relationship?
  • Why do certain situations trigger extremely strong emotional reactions?
  • Why do we overthink even when we know our thoughts are hurting us?
  • Why do some people struggle to trust, communicate, or set boundaries?
  • Why can a person understand everyone else but struggle to understand themselves?

These questions shaped my journey in clinical psychology.

I came to understand that what we see on the surface is often only one part of the story.

  1. Sometimes anxiety has a deeper emotional history.
  2. Sometimes anger protects hurt.
  3. Sometimes perfectionism protects a fear of failure or rejection.
  4. Sometimes people-pleasing develops from a deep need for acceptance.
  5. Sometimes relationship difficulties are connected to attachment wounds and unresolved experiences.
  6. And sometimes the adult we see today is still carrying emotional experiences from much earlier in life.

This understanding became an important part of the way I approach psychotherapy.

My Approach: From Symptoms to the Deeper Pattern

Many therapeutic approaches focus on reducing symptoms—and symptom relief is important.

But I also ask:

“Why is this pattern happening in the first place?”

Rather than looking only at what a person is experiencing today, I try to understand the factors that may be contributing to the difficulty.

This can include:

Current thoughts and beliefs

Emotional triggers

Behavioral patterns

Personality characteristics

Relationship dynamics

Attachment patterns

Childhood experiences

Unresolved emotional experiences

Coping mechanisms

Internal conflicts

Self-image and self-worth

The purpose is not to blame the past. The purpose is to understand the present more clearly.

Online Psychologist in Pakistan

I provide online psychological consultation and psychotherapy for clients in Pakistan and Pakistani clients living abroad, subject to clinical suitability and applicable professional considerations.

Online therapy can make psychological support more accessible for people who cannot regularly attend an in-person clinic.

Whether you are searching for an online psychologist in Pakistan, psychologist in Islamabad, clinical psychologist in Rawalpindi, CBT therapist, relationship therapist, and emotional regulation therapist, or psychotherapist, online sessions may provide a convenient way to begin professional psychological support.

You Don't Have to Understand Everything before You Start

  • You don’t need to know exactly what diagnosis you have.
  • You don’t need to understand why you feel the way you do.
  • You don’t need to have the perfect words.

Sometimes all you know is:

  1. “I don’t feel like myself anymore.”
  2. “I keep repeating the same patterns.”
  3. “My emotions feel difficult to control.”
  4. “I understand my problem, but I can’t change it.”
  5. “Something from my past still affects me.”
  6. “I want to understand myself.”

That can be enough to begin a therapeutic conversation.

My Philosophy of Therapy

  1. I believe that psychological therapy should be professional, compassionate, evidence-informed, individualized, and purposeful.
  2. I don’t want clients to simply become better at hiding their emotions.
  3. I want them to understand their emotions.
  4. I don’t want clients to simply learn how to survive their relationships.
  5. I want them to understand their relationship patterns.
  6. I don’t want clients to remain defined by their past.
  7. I want them to understand how their past may influence their present—and develop healthier possibilities for the future.

  • You are not your anxiety.
  • You are not your anger.
  • You are not your trauma.
  • You are not your past.

And you are not defined by your most difficult chapter.

There is a person behind every pattern.

My work is to help you understand that person.

Begin Your Journey

If you are struggling with anxiety, overthinking, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, anger, unresolved emotional experiences, personality concerns, trauma-related difficulties, or repeated patterns that you cannot seem to break, professional psychological support may help you understand what is happening and identify a path forward.

You don’t have to change everything at once.

Sometimes meaningful change begins with one honest conversation.
